How to make a Wick Assembly with a Sustainer!

Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or just starting out with candle-making or lamp crafting, a well-constructed wick assembly is key to achieving the best performance. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to make a wick assembly using a wick sustainer—a small but vital component that ensures your wick stays in place and burns efficiently.

Materials You'll Need:

  • Wick (pre-waxed wick is best to use)

  • Metal Sustainer

  • Scissors

  • Pliers or something similar

Instructions:

  1. Measure wick against the length of the mould.

  2. Cut the wick slightly longer than the mould.

  3. Thread one end of the wick through the hole in the bottom of the metal sustainer, all the way to the end of the wick.

  4. Trim any excess wick from the bottom to make the sustainer level.

  5. Use pliers to crimp the top metal stem of the sustainer closed to secure it.

  6. Remove any extra wick from the bottom of the sustainer and make sure the sustainer is level and flat.
